On the afternoon of January 28th, 2015, the second President’s Summit of the Eighth Council of Shenzhen Ports Association was held in the Grand Skylight Garden Hotel Shenzhen. The summit was hosted by Mr. Patrick Lam, the President of the association. The attendees included 5 Vice Presidents: Mr. Eric Yim, Mr. Benjamin Lai, Mr. Yao Jiping and Mr. Patrick Wong, and 12 more representatives of the association members. The summit summarized the association’s accomplishments in 2014, and analyzed the major tasks in 2015.
Mr. Jiang Yansheng, Secretary General of the Association delivered the annual summary of the association’s work in 2014. In 2014, the Association had done a lot of work in reflecting the aspirations of members, managing industry self-regulation, and organizing qualification evaluation and training, etc. which played a positive role in the industry development. The Association also assisted government departments to hold several mega events, such as the Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Cooperation Port Forum (also named as the Fourth World Port Strategy Forum), the Port Occupational Skills Competition of the Eighth Shenzhen Occupational Skills Innovation Games and the First National Vocational Skills Competition for the Transport Industry, etc. which had further improved the influence of Shenzhen Port and the Association.
The Summit gave full credits to the Secretarial for their hard work last year, and set guidelines for the major tasks this year. The first would be to pay more attention to the common issues of the industry development, to learn the difficulties in the operations of members, to reflecting the aspirations and to defend the interest of the industry. The second would be to actively join the industry events, to develop industry exchanges and to coordinate the government to promote the construction of Maritime Silk Road. The third would be to further expand the service function of the Association, to better carry out the government’s transferred functional tasks, to keep on organizing the industry qualification and training, and to provide more professional services to the members. The fourth would be to better manage industry self-regulation and promote the construction of green port. The fifth would be to develop the functions and organization of different professional committees.
The Summit also discussed and approved the relevant leadership changes of the Association, the marketization transformation of port charges and other common industry issues.
